Peikko opens new production unit in Finland dedicated to wind turbine foundation component production

Peikko Group’s Finnish subsidiary Peikko Finland Oy has opened its second production unit in Finland. The new unit comprises at the moment 2,000 m2 and focuses on the production and assembly of wind turbine foundation components. The new unit is located in Nastola, some 20 kilometers outside of Lahti, where Peikko’s Finnish main production facilities are located. The Lahti unit produces connection items for concrete construction, and composite beams used in building frames.

Peikko has developed a reliable and optimized solution for onshore wind turbine foundations. The solution can include components or components supported by design. In addition to foundation technology, Peikko supplies connection technology used in connecting precast elements of wind turbine towers.

“Based on the strong order and offer books we made a decision to enhance our service ability. The new Nastola unit specializes in responding to the specific requirements of the wind energy sector’s customers. This year the wind energy sector forms over 10 percent of Peikko Group’s total turnover and we seek significant growth in 2015. Developing this business is important for us”, states Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Corporation.
