180 tons of mega columns with Peikko bolted connections

To meet steadily growing demand, Hitachi Energy invested more than 30 million euros in expanding and modernizing its facility in Bad Honnef. In operation since 1906, the Bad Honnef plant is one of Hitachi Energy's most important production locations in Europe. The long-established factory manufactures large power transformers that are used to increase or decrease voltage levels . These transformers play a central role in efficient power transmission and distribution.

As part of this construction project, Peikko supplied bolted connections for the precast columns, some of which weighed up to 180 tons. Column shoes and anchor bolts were used to meet the high static requirements of the project. The heavy components were transported and installed using the COLIFT mounting system. Peikko's solutions enabled particularly fast installation and simple and efficient reinforcement routing, thus contributing significantly to the smooth running of the construction process.
