Steel and wood in harmony – BESISTA® rod systems in Himmelsglück

At a height of 55 meters, the “Himmelsglück” observation tower in Schömberg offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the Black Forest and is currently Germany's tallest tower in hybrid wood construction.

The Schömberg observation tower impressively demonstrates how steel and wood can complement each other harmoniously and blend into the picturesque landscape. More than 300 steps lead up to one of the three viewing platforms, which are located at heights of 20, 35, and 50 meters. Thanks to the integration of an elevator, which operates annually from April to October, the Himmelsglück is accessible to all. But it's not just the view that makes a visit to the panorama tower so appealing. With the “Blackforest Flyline” and the “Blackforest Flying Fox,” visitors have two extraordinary and adrenaline-fueled options for their descent.

The Schömberg landmark is supported by twelve wooden pillars with integrated steel structures. Peikko's BESISTA® rod systems in hot-dip galvanized zinc design were used for precise and elegant bracing. These ensure high corrosion protection and contribute significantly to the durability and stability of the structure. Thanks to the cross anchors and cover sleeves used, the systems blend delicately into the overall picture, leaving enough space for the impressive view.
